Pro bono Panel
TM is establishing an Equality and Social Justice Unit to advance GTR rights. It wishes to set up a pro bono panel of practitioners interested in undertaking legal work in relation to discrimination and human rights abuses, particularly in the field of education and the provision of services. Pro bono is legal work undertaken by practitioners voluntarily and without payment or at a reduced fee. TM envisages a number of ways practitioners can contribute their expertise on a pro bono basis to assist disadvantaged and vulnerable GTR communities. Pro bono opportunities include:
· providing representation in litigation before courts and tribunals;
· providing advice and information to TM staff and/or members of the GTR community;
· conducting preliminary research;
· providing initial legal opinions for TM;
· delivering legal training to GTR community representatives.
TM can offer training and expertise in GTR culture and experiences to its panel members. If you would like further information or wish to register your interest in joining the panel, please telephone Radmila Vujnovic on 020 7607 2002 or email her at email@example.com. Please visit www.travellermovement.org.uk for information on TM and its work.
Why Volunteer? Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services. Volunteering is often seen as a selfless act, but people sometimes also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others and make contacts for possible employment.
Who are we looking for? We need people who can give their time and be committed to the organization. We’re looking for people who can make a valuable contribution to the organization, and who we can offer something to in return. We believe its important for our volunteers to feel that its a mutually beneficial arrangement. This may be through the development of new skills, a step back into work, a confidence boost, or training.
What can you expect to do? Volunteering opportunities change from time to time depending on the needs within the organization and the current, or forthcoming projects. In the past volunteers have gone onto paid jobs with us, and we have linked volunteers in with policy work and other trained volunteers.
The Traveller Movement Community Internship programme is an opportunity for on-the-job training for community members. Placements range from 3-12 months.
Successful applicants to our programmers are given a wide range of experiences during their time with us. Interns are given genuine responsibility and real projects to work on, some of these include working closely with the policy team undertaking back ground research, data analysis and/or organising events. Interns can also work closely with the capacity building and partnerships team on a wide range of health, education or youth projects.
TM recognise that the decision to do an internship with us is an investment in ones future career and we want to ensure that the opportunities presented are as rewarding and fulfilling as possible. For more information
