Summary

‘Roads to Success’ is our peer led research project looking into the education, training and employment needs of young Gypsies, Roma and Travellers in the UK. The project is kindly funded by the Youth Futures Foundation .

All our 10 peer researchers come from GRT backgrounds and are therefore best equipped in understanding and researching why young GRT fare worst in most education, training and employment statistics. They will be interviewing their peers and collecting data via an onlinesurvey .

Some of the peer researchers are also taking part in the mapping and interviewing of the UK GRT youth services sector in order to identify gaps and good practice. If you are a GRT and/or youth organisation in the UK, please take part in this short survey.

The end result of this project will be a GRT Youth Strategy that will feed into government policy on how to tackle low qualification levels, underachievement and unemployment among GRT young people.

Please contact Millie Cooper at otv@travellermovement.org.uk for more information about the project.
