Hi, I’m Lourdes-Marie Green, the Women’s Research and Development Officer at the Traveller Movement. I joined the organisation in May as the Partnerships Intern and recently transitioned to this new role.

In this position, I’m involved with the Women’s Empowerment Network (WEN), where I help run events, listen to community voices, and share opportunities that support women’s empowerment and community growth. WEN is currently undergoing a rebrand, and we’re excited to expand our efforts and host more events in the coming year. If you’d like to join the WEN group chat or learn more about upcoming events and opportunities, please feel free to reach out.

I’m also doing some research on issues of shame and reputation within the Romani (Gypsy), Roma, and Irish Traveller communities. This project takes a peer-led approach, which means we will be actively involving community members to ensure our findings genuinely reflect the lived experiences and voices of community members.

We are currently recruiting peer researchers, which is a paid opportunity for people who are interested in interviewing members of their community. If you’d like to be interviewed and have your voice heard, we’re also offering participation vouchers for your time.

If you or anyone you know is interested or would like some more information on the project, please email me at wen@travellermovement.org.uk
