We spoke with Paul Grant, a Trainee Minister at Light and Life Church about their shoebox project.
18 Dec 2025At this time of year, hundreds of Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Travellers are dedicating time and effort raising money for charity. Our Community Advocacy Caseworker recently spoke to Paul Grant, a Trainee Minister at Light and Life Church about the amazing work the church is doing to provide Roma communities in Romania and Slovakia with toys, hygiene essentials and clothing.
There are 45 Light and Life Churches across the UK, and together they have collected 2,500 boxes. A team of 7 drive the shoeboxes over and spend time with the communities spreading the gospel.
Paul Grant has been part of the project for 5 years now, but the project is in its 12th year. For anyone looking to get involved in the future, you can reach out to your local Light and Life Church to donate.
Paul spoke passionately about the project not just being about the donations, but to spread hope to struggling communities with the gospel. Paul said “This project isn’t for man’s glory, it’s for God’s glory”.
We’re hugely impressed with this selfless work, and all of the inspirational people who have dedicated so much time to supporting communities in need this Christmas. Well done all!
