Volunteers’ Week 2023: Celebrate and Inspire

The Traveller Movement marks Volunteers’ Week 2023.

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when the Traveller Movement will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society has never been more important.

This Volunteers’ Week the Traveller Movement will be celebrating all their volunteers, by featuring them on social media and sharing the importance of their work.

Sabrina Franklin, Office Manager said: “Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make. Through offering their time, assisting with administration, sitting on the Board of Trustees, the Advisory Board and Steering groups, everything they contribute is valued and appreciated.

TM Volunteer Nanna says “Through my volunteer work, I see more and more how the Traveller and Gypsies Recipes and Tips Facebook group has become a big part of folks’ lives. We laugh and we cry together, while I am only ever an inbox away. I often help folks with anything from recipes to a shoulder to lean on in sadder times. I would really recommend volunteering with the Traveller Movement, a supporting and caring team.”
