The Irish Traveller community is a historically underserved and underrepresented population that has suffered systemic exclusion. Whilst much has been written about the lived experience of Irish Travellers in London, less is known about how they navigate the health and social care systems which serve the general population. As part of a wider Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Traveller strategy, Brent Council has commissioned this health needs assessment to better understand how the Irish Traveller community accesses local health care support, the barriers they face when seeking help, and how, as a local authority, we can act to improve their experiences of health care.
