‘Tutors for Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller young people’ Evaluation Report: Findings from a programme for young Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller students aged 5-18

16 Jun 2022

Tutors for GRT young people’ is a one-to-one tutoring intervention for young Gypsy, Roma and Traveller students aged between 5 and 18. The programme was delivered between September 2020 and July 2021 and was borne out of a rapid COVID19 response.

This initially small scale initiative began between Traveller Movement and Kings’ College with funding for 40 students. With support and funding from the then Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, we were able extend the programme and develop a new sister organisation and community interest company called Open Doors Education and Training (ODET) in November 2020 to deliver its tutoring programmes. ODET was able to successfully reach 120 children and young people, to provide them with the necessary technology and resources and start them on their tutoring journey.
